2020 #WALKCLT

#WALKCLT is a month-long campaign, powered by OrthoCarolina that invites folks to explore new neighborhoods, public art and particular pathways of Charlotte that can only be discovered on foot. Our team has identified, customized and digitized walking tours around Charlotte and will deliver them to you in the palm of your hand. We didn’t stop there because sometimes the best walks are found just outside your front door with an awesome playlist in your earbuds. New content will be added weekly, so watch our Instagram and Facebook pages for updates and simple ways to join #WALKCLT.

Here's a sneak peak of the routes you can explore on the platform:

WESLEY HEIGHTS:

Check out this Wesley Height walking tour and discovery a new neighborhood, take a stroll and visits all of the points of interests we've identify on the route. Also, check out the other walks on our platform as we continue to provide new ways to explore Charlotte on foot.

GLOBE TROT:

Take a Globe Trot around the Cool Globes in Uptown. These sculptures are traveling the world and teaching people about climate change and sustainability. We are excited by this public exhibit because they shine a light on many of the issues that Sustain Charlotte is working to solve right here at home. So we encourage you to take a walk, see some Globe-trotten' Cool Globes and then, if you can, contribute to Sustain Charlotte so that we can continue to advocate for change and make our corner of the globe greener, healthier, and better. Read more about the Cool Globes here: COOL GLOBES

"LIGHTS" AT THE WHITEWATER CENTER:

An illuminated walking trail that leads walkers through a series of immersive light installations by artist Meredith Connelly. The experience offers a range of approachable, multi-sensory works that are site-specific to the Whitewater Center. See the trail map here: LIGHTS

HISTORIC WEST END:

This special #WALKCLT tour highlights Walking with History in the South, which offers a grab-bag of essays exploring history and culture in Charlotte, NC, and the American South. You’ll find urban geography, music traditions, foodways, and whatever else catches our fancy. The Historic West End features the treasured symbol of Charlotte's African American community, Johnson C. Smith University. Also featured in the tour are many historic landmarks including several churches and homes. Thank you Tom for letting us share your knowledge with everyone! Please check out his website on the tour here: HISTORY SOUTH

NODA STREET-WALKING:

If you are new to the area, this is a perfect way to familiarize yourself with the NoDa Arts District. Lived here for years? See your daily sights with fresh eyes as you discover the interesting stories behind the art and architecture of the NoDa Hood. Download the VoiceMap app to listen to the tour. Thank you NoDa NBA for creating this awesome experience! Click here to access the map and audio tour: NoDa Street-Walking
